Delete your account and most of its data
Draft preview. Highlighted text in square brackets is a placeholder that must be filled before this page goes live.
You can delete your Nabbins account at any time, with or without a membership. This deletes what Nabbins holds about you, apart from the few records listed under "What Nabbins keeps". Other companies keep some records under their own policies; those are listed too.
In the app #
- Open Nabbins and go to You › Delete account.
- Confirm, and sign in with Apple once more. This proves it's you.
The stages:
- Request received: when you confirm in the app, or when we receive your email.
- Deletion started: straight after you confirm in the app. For an email request, once we've confirmed it's you.
- Deletion complete: see "What Nabbins deletes" below. The app shows anything still pending.
Before you delete: cancel your membership. Deleting your account doesn't cancel it, and Apple keeps billing until you do. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions › Nabbins › Cancel Subscription.
What Nabbins deletes #
The order. After you confirm, the app first sends any changes still waiting on this phone. Our server then closes your account to changes and, in this order, revokes Nabbins' Sign in with Apple access, removes each bank connection at Plaid, asks RevenueCat to delete your membership records, and deletes your data on our servers. When our server confirms, this phone deletes its copy.
Deletion complete means our servers have deleted your data and the provider steps we can confirm have finished: Apple sign-in access revoked, each Plaid connection removed, and RevenueCat's delete request accepted. If a step can't finish at once, for example because a provider is down, your account stays closed and our server keeps retrying until it does. Email requests are completed within 30 days of confirming it's you.
Your other phones aren't part of deletion complete. Each clears its copy, sign-in session and reminders the next time it opens Nabbins and reaches our server. We can't confirm a phone we can't reach; until it reconnects, its copy stays on it.
| Order | Where | What |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sign in with Apple | We revoke Nabbins' access to your Apple sign-in |
| 2 | Your bank connections at Plaid | We remove each connection, which ends our access |
| 3 | RevenueCat | We ask RevenueCat to delete your membership records (your user ID, purchase records and trial or membership status) |
| 4 | Our servers | Your account (name, email address, user ID), your bank connection keys, your whole budget and its history, your plan, the names and notes you typed, your settings, your app-open times and the record of each saved change, your app usage events, your sign-in audit log entries in our database, and any transactions waiting for your phone |
| 5 | This phone | The app's copy of your data, any saved copy file, your sign-in session, scheduled reminders, and usage events waiting to be sent. If this can't finish at once, the app tries again the next time it opens |
| Not part of deletion complete | Your other phones | The same, on each other phone signed in to your account, the next time it opens Nabbins and reaches our server. We can't confirm a phone we can't reach |
| Afterwards | Logs | Request and server logs, and Supabase's log-storage copy of sign-in audit logs, include IP addresses and age out after 1 day, except records we need to investigate abuse or a security problem |
| — | Server backups | None. We don't make or keep backups or exports of the app database, and our hosting plan includes no automatic backups. |
What Nabbins keeps, and why #
- A record that your account was deleted: your user ID and the date only, kept for 24 months, used only to show we did it.
- If you write to us to delete, we keep that email exchange to show we acted on it, for 12 months.
- Weekly usage totals. Counts per week of broad kinds of app use, such as setup. The totals have no account ID, are stored separately, only include groups of at least 10 members, and are designed not to identify individual members. Totals already written stay; usage events deleted with your account before a weekly count aren't counted.
- Anything the law requires us to keep, for as long as it requires.
What other companies keep, under their own policies #
- Apple. Apple's records of your membership and payments are Apple's, kept under Apple's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat. It may keep some records after our request, as its policy or the law requires.
- Plaid. After we remove the connection, Plaid deletes connection data under its End User Privacy Policy, with exceptions it lists (https://plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy). You can ask Plaid directly in Plaid Portal (https://my.plaid.com).
- Email providers. Zoho, which runs our support email, and Buttondown, which runs our email list, keep what their policies say for the messages they handled. Our own retention of support email is 12 months.
- Your backups. Device and iCloud backups made before you deleted your account keep a copy until they're replaced. You control those backups in iOS Settings.
- Our email list. If you also joined our email list on the website, that's separate. To remove both at once, email us with the subject "Delete my account and email list" from the address on your Nabbins account, and add the list address if it's different.
If you can't use the app #
Email support@nabbins.com with the subject "Delete my account". Send it from the email address on your Nabbins account. If you chose "Hide My Email" with Apple, that's your relay address; you can find it on your iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud › Hide My Email, and choose Nabbins. We'll confirm it's you, start immediately, complete the deletion within 30 days, and email you when it's done.
You can also stop using Sign in with Apple with Nabbins (open Settings, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple, choose Nabbins and tap Delete), and disconnect Nabbins in Plaid Portal (https://my.plaid.com). Neither deletes your Nabbins account by itself, so email us as well.
